The lowland forest of KANHA is a mixture of sal (Shorea robusta) and other mixed forest trees, interspersed with meadows. The highland forests are tropical moist dry deciduous type and of a completely different nature with bamboo on slopes (Dendrocalamus strictus). A very good looking Indian ghost tree (kullu) can also be seen in the dense forest. The park has a significant population of royal Bengal tiger, Indian leopards, sloth bear, barasingha and Indian wild dog. The lush sal and bamboo forests, grassy meadows and ravines of Kanha is known to have provided inspiration to Rudyard Kipling for his famous novel Jungle Book. In modern days Male tigers like Munna, Kingfisher, Bheema, Red eyes, Ronda male, sangam male, Kankati rules kanha dominantly in Kisli, Mukki, Kanha and Sarhi areas. Females along with cubs makes Kanha’s tiger population count close to 100.
The name Kanha was given after the name of local soil KANHAR which is inhibited by erstwhile GOND and BAIGA tribes. GroupOuting™ at our short leisure day trips offer unique hospitality in eco resorts which reflects local cultures. You can experience local arts and crafts as well as guided safaris in the lap of nature. The lip smacking local cuisines will tantalize your taste buds.
Kanha is a biodiversity hotspot due to its Sal habitat which make it a photographers paradise. This is the largest concentration of foliage in central India in Satpura Maikal Range. GroupOuting™ offers birding and Tiger tracking trips throughout the year in Kanha. Summers are ideal for spotting tigers in the wild. We prefer to visit Kanha and Mukki areas in morning time and Kisli, Sarhi areas in evening time for making our safaris perfect. All GO Photographic expeditions are mentored by local as well as professional wildlife experts. For better wildlife viewing we offer full day safaris for professionals. The Nature walk, Sarhi and Kisli zone water bodies, Kanha meadow attracts significant birdlife. We prefer to enter the park earlier than others to spot fascinating birds in the most conducive environment. Winters are preferred for birding excursions here.
For all GO Professional Safaris, detailed list of Flora and Fauna as well as information regarding clothing and camera gears that needs to be carried will be intimated to our valuable guests at most 15 days prior to the start of our trip, based on recent sightings update.
