Pench National Park is situated at Seoni and Chindwara district, at the banks of river Pench in the heart of India, Madhya Pradesh’s south east corner. Pench National Park was established in the year 1983 and project tiger started in the year 1992. This Sal forest of Pench is one of India’s premier tiger reserve where Rudyard Kipling wrote his famous novel “Jungle Book” immortalizing “Mowgli”. A two and half hours drive ( 100kms) from the city of Nagpur leads you to this photographers’ paradise.

The park is divided into two parts by the Pench river. The reserve comprises of the Indira Priyadarshini tiger reserve, the the Pench Mowgli Sanctuary and a buffer shared between neighboring states of Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. However what is know as Pench National Park, lies entirely in Madhya Pradesh.

The sunset at the banks of Pench river is a delight to watch. Tiger, Sloth Bear (in hot summer months), Sambar and spotted deer are commonly observed along with varieties of bird species are commonly spotted. The park has sizeable leopard populations which are tough to catch a gimps of. Pench along with Rukhad and its extension part at Nearby Gondia district of Maharashtra are on NH7 and GroupOuting™ awaits to serve you the best wildlife adventure in this corridor.

GO Photographic expeditions are organised during October to June months each year. All the expeditions are lead by local guides and professional mentors. Pench is famous for its birdlife and they are witnessed primarily near the water bodies and rivers in early morning and late evening. Birds such as peafowl, jungle fowl, crow pheasant, crimson-breasted barbet, red-vented bulbul, racket-tailed drongo, Indian roller, magpie robin, lesser whistling teal, pintail, shoveller, egret and herons, minivet, oriole, wagtail, munia, myna, waterfowl and blue kingfisher are commonly spotted.

Apart from birdlife areas at Touria gate, karmajhiri road and Jhamtara is often visited for tiger tracking. The Maharashtra side of the park has sizeable population of Grey Wolf. All Photo Trips are organized through Touria as the animals are relatively bold in behaviour in this area. Pack of Wild Dogs can be easily seen during winters in these areas.

GO leisure trips are short day trips which are organised at a scenic eco lodge which is close to Pench river. One can enjoy campfires, jungle safaris, nature walks and folk music in this trip. For our valued guests we even organise Candle light dinners on demand. It’s a perfect destination for nostalgic travelers to experience the land of MOWGLI.
