GroupOuting™ runs unique red panda adventures at India’s Singalila National Park. Red Panda is listed as an endangered species as per the IUCN Red List. The Red Panda population is decreasing and needs to be protected for our future generations to share the ecosystem with the precious animal of the Eastern Himalayas. Deforestation and climate change alone cause the major harm and are the principal reasons for the declining population of the Red bear-cat. Promotion of Tourism and generating alternate income sources for the locals can ensure that people do not encroach forests, and help preserve the natural wildlife and its inhabitants for the future.

GroupOuting arranges Red Panda Expedition in a very responsible manner with very small teams sizes of maximum 6 guests per batch. Due to the short window of the best time for red panda expedition in India, GroupOuting conducts a handful tours per year with its own team of experts. The GroupOuting Exclusive Red Panda Expedition is arranged at an unbelievable cost that ensures more wildlife lovers can participate in the program and spend a week in the midst of breathtaking beauty in one of the best spots of our country.

Choosing the right season – Red Pandas are very vulnerable to heat, they can’t bear high temperatures above 25°C. In summers they are hardly seen as they spend most of the time in shaded areas, hidden into tree hollows or tall bamboo growths. In monsoon due to heavy rainfall the hilly forest trails are muddy and chances of landslide increases. The pandas are also hard to see as the vegetation grows. In fact the Singalila National Park is closed during the monsoon months. In winters this expedition is not recommended for severe cold and snowfall, nor is it a good time for Panda sighting. In Spring and autumn season the months of March – April and October to November months are best season to spot Red Pandas in the wild. Spring is the time when new fruits and flowers blossom and the national park turns red due to the rhododendrons blooming all over, which lures the Panda out on the branches. The morning temperature remains ideal for Pandas to come out and their activities increase as they prefer sunbathing.

How GO Expeditions are organized – Red Panda tracking is one of GO Exclusive’s endangered wildlife tracking experience of a lifetime. The trips are headed by a seasoned naturalist who has previous experience in tracking pandas in wild. A group of young local enthusiasts works round the clock on ground as per information available prior to the advent of the trip. After getting a proper confirmation from ground force the participants trek through the misty rhododendron forests to sight the elusive species. It takes high amount of patience, perseverance and physical fitness for a duration of a week to witness red pandas in the wild. Accommodation is arranged in well appointed lodges and homestays (not an expensive resort) with private western toilets. Food, packaged water, accommodation, all transfers and expedition costs are included in your tour cost.

Mode of travel – All travel inside the Singalila National Park is mainly on foot or in vintage Land Rovers. Outside the park, all surface transfers including airport transfers are arranged in well maintained SUVs with an experienced driver who is hands-on in driving the winding roads of the hilly terrain.
